BRG-SOP-004

Hub setup

Choosing and securing a central community hub.

Purpose

To choose a hub that is central, safe and permanent enough to carry the group's connection.

Scope

Every group that is ready to connect.

Good hub sites

A library, church, school, community hall or another approved facility that is:

  • geographically central to the members' homes;
  • secure, with someone responsible for it;
  • connected to electricity, or has solar potential;
  • available with the written permission of the owner.

Procedure

  1. The leaders propose a site and add it on the group's map in the network planner.
  2. They record whether the site has electricity, solar potential, security and owner permission.
  3. They drag the hub marker on the map to compare positions. The planner shows how many homes fall into each distance band.
  4. The Bridge team approves the hub. Status moves from proposed to approved, equipment ordered, installed and operational.

Records

Hub record, site checks, owner permission letter, hub position history.
