How Bridge works

Five steps from neighbours to network

    Join

    Register your interest online. It is free: no payment is made at registration. You can join more than one group.

  2. 2

    Group

    When 15 or more people in one area register, a Bridge group forms and elects three leaders. Smaller groups are possible with the Team's approval.

    Connect

    The group chooses a central hub and compares ISP quotes for one good connection.

  4. 4

    Share

    Mesh Wi-Fi and point-to-point radio carry the signal from the hub to member homes.

  5. 5

    Grow

    As a group gets large it splits, and each new group gets its own hub.

Technology

One connection. A hub. Homes on the wireless edge.

Bridge is technology-neutral. The group picks the best backbone it can get (Starlink, fibre, a radio link, VSAT or LTE/4G) and shares it from a central hub using mesh Wi-Fi and 2.4 GHz point-to-point radio.

  • Up to ~200 m: mesh Wi-Fi
  • ~200 m – 1 km: outdoor mesh or point-to-point
  • ~1 – 3 km: dedicated point-to-point link
  • Beyond 3 km: a secondary mini-hub
